KATHMANDU: Members of the National Assembly have drawn the government’s attention to the need to address the demands of landless squatters being sheltered in different holding centers.
Speaking during the zero hour on Monday, they urged the government to ensure proper management of the squatters.
Likewise, members of the upper house also advised the government to remain alert to prevent shortages of water, fertilizers and seeds while the country is observing National Paddy Day.
Lawmaker Chandra Bahadur KC specifically called on the government to respond to the demands of squatters in holding centers.
Similarly, lawmaker Jagat Timilsina said it was inappropriate for the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) to grant party membership to individuals under the age of 18.
“At a time when laws are being introduced to restrict student unions, it is not appropriate for the party to grant membership to those in age groups prohibited by law,” he added.
Lawmaker Meena Singh Rakhyal stressed that the government must ensure there are no shortages of water, fertilizers, and seeds during National Paddy Day.
Lawmaker Ranjit Karna urged the government to address the demands of protesting farmers in Rajbiraj, Saptari, who are demanding land ownership certificates.
Similarly, lawmaker Roshani Meche reminded the government that the law requires individuals to be at least 18 years old to become members of a political party.
Lawmaker Basudev Ghimire objected to mistakes seen in the recently published Grade 12 examinations.
Likewise, lawmaker Samjhana Devkota urged the government to open one of the two border points to China in Gorkha.
Similarly, lawmaker Somnath Portel called on the government to withdraw its decision to conduct DNA testing on betel nuts (supari), which has brought exports to a grinding halt.
