DARCHULA: The flow of the Chamelia River, which was partially blocked by a landslide at Bhattar in Apihimal-1 of Darchula, has returned to normal.
According to the District Administration Office, Darchula, the landslide on Friday afternoon had partially blocked the river for some time.
Darchula Assistant Chief District Officer Mohan Singh Dhami said the local administration had received information that the river was now flowing normally. He added that the landslide had blocked the route leading to the Apihimal Base Camp. “The landslide has stopped for now, and the river has resumed its natural flow,” Dhami said.
The area has experienced landslides in the past as well.
A nearby settlement is at risk from the landslide. However, Friday’s landslide has not caused any damage to the settlement.
The Apihimal Base Camp lies further uphill from the area.
Earlier, the Darchula administration had alerted people living downstream to remain vigilant after it received information about the landslide and the river blockage.
