
KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has clarified that the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) for Grade 10 will not be affected by the boycott announced by Madhesh Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh.
Organizing a press meet in Janakpurdham on Tuesday, Chief Minister Singh declared the boycott, expressing dissatisfaction with the process of appointing examination center chiefs.
The SEE examinations are beginning on Thursday. The ministry has urged students to participate in the exams without any stress.
Shiv Kumar Sapkota, the ministry spokesperson, said that the boycott announced by the Madhesh Chief Minister will not affect the exams.
Education Minister Bidya Bhattarai has expressed concern over Madhesh Chief Minister Singh’s boycott announcement.
Sapkota said the ministry was in touch with the National Examination Board regarding the examination.
Meanwhile, Sanjaya Jha, principal of Yagyavalkya Sanskrit Secondary School at Gyankup in Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City, said all preparations for the examination have been completed. “Regardless of what the Chief Minister is saying, the examination will not be stopped. Necessary preparations have been made as per the instructions of the District Examination Coordination Committee,” he added.
The examinations will be conducted simultaneously across 2,079 exam centers from March 20 to April 1. A total of 514,071 students are appearing for the examination.
