430 MW of generation disrupted by Bhotekoshi floods: NEA

KATHMANDU: The floods in the Bhotekoshi River have affected the generation of a combined 430 MW from different hydropower projects on the Trishuli River basin.

According to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), the flood has disrupted around 405 MW of electricity generated by 11 hydropower projects and 25 MW of solar power.

“Preliminary reports indicate that the flood has also caused extensive damage to houses, roads, bridges, electricity infrastructure and other physical structures,” NEA said in a statement.

The flood has damaged the Rasuwagadhi, Chilime and Trishuli 3A hydropower projects, the Trishuli 3B Hub 220 kV substation, the Trishuli and Devighat hydropower plants, as well as various distribution structures, it added.
