KATHMANDU: Sipradi-Yatri has lifted the wraps off the Yatri P2, a locally designed and manufactured electric scooter.
Minister for Finance Swarnim Wagle unveiled the vehicle amid a ceremony in Kathmandu on Monday evening.
The Yatri P2 represents the company’s second offering following the Yatri P1 electric motorcycle and marks the first model launched since Yatri Motorcycles partnered with automotive distributor Sipradi Trading.
Speaking at the event, Minister Wagle said being able to design, engineer, and manufacture a product locally is a major achievement. “Instead of copying foreign models, Nepal can compete with global brands through original design,” Wagle said.
He termed the new scooter a world-class product.
Also speaking on the occasion, Rajan Babu Shrestha, CEO of Sipradi Trading, said the project demonstrates Nepal’s capability to design, engineer and manufacture high-end vehicles. He added that Sipradi-Yatri aims to introduce more products in the future.
Yatri P2
The Yatri P2 is powered by a 10 kW electric motor and comes in three battery configurations. The top-spec 5.2 kWh battery variant offers a claimed range of 157 km, while the 3.7 kWh and 3 kWh battery options provide ranges of 112 km and 90 km, respectively.
The scooter supports DC fast charging, which is the first-in-the-segment feature, according to Sipradi Yatri.
The battery can reach an 80% charge in 41 minutes using a DC charger, while standard home charging can top up 80% of the battery in 2 hours and 50 minutes.
The electric scooter features a 1,390 mm wheelbase and supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
The Yatri P2 will be showcased to the public at the upcoming NADA Auto Show.
