438 km of roads blacktopped in nine months

KATHMANDU: A total of 74 km of four-lane and 364 km of two-lane roads were blacktopped till mid-April of the current fiscal year.

According to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, 103 km of gravel roads and 88 km of earthen roads were also completed during the period. In addition, construction of 46 bridges and periodic maintenance of 63 kilometers of national highways were completed during the review period.

The ministry said 1,126 metres of concrete lining work on the main tunnel of the Siddhababa Tunnel Project has been completed.

Under the Rani–Biratnagar–Dharan road project, blacktopping of 2.462 km of three-lane road, including 1.231 kilometres of six-lane section, has been completed at Duhabi Bazaar against the annual target of 2.48 km.

Similarly, under the Muglin–Pokhara road expansion project, 40.521 kilometers of blacktopping in the eastern section and 37.89 km in the western section had been completed by mid-April 2026. Construction progress of the remaining two spans of the Madi River bridge has reached 75.5%.

According to the ministry, 96.8 km of four-lane blacktopped road has been completed along the Narayanghat–Butwal section of the East-West Highway, while 7.8 km in the Daunne section has been concerete paved.
