About 120 meters of Prithvi Highway has caved in.
KATHMANDU: The government has decided to reopen the Benighat-Fisling road in Gorkha to prepare an alternative route after the Prithvi Highway was blocked at Krishnabhir.
Nearly 120 meters of the highway has caved in at Krishnabhir following the Bhotekoshi floods. This has disrupted traffic between Kathmandu and the western districts.
The 10th meeting of the Monsoon Response Command Post on Thursday decided to upgrade the road between the Benighat and Fisling bridges and operate traffic through the alternative route.
The government has also decided to arrange vehicles needed to transport bodies recovered from the flood-affected areas. The meeting decided that the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Federal Affairs and General Administration will coordinate with provincial and local levels to make necessary arrangements.
Similarly, the ministry has been told to make necessary arrangements to bring 114 Nepali people stranded in China after the floods.
The Chinese government has already transported them to the Nepal-China border at Kodari.
