KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has provided Rs 10 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund for the relief and rehabilitation of people affected by the Bhotekoshi floods.
A delegation led by party General Secretary Pradeep Paudel handed over a cheque for the amount to Minister for Finance Swarnim Wagle on Monday.
Party Treasurer Umesh Shrestha, Spokesperson Devaraj Chalise and Rasuwa lawmaker Mohan Acharya, among other leaders, were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Paudel said the party had provided the funds to help the government deliver immediate relief, medical treatment and safe shelter to affected families.
He also expressed concern over delays in rescuing people trapped in tunnels and other locations and urged the government to expedite rescue operations.
“I urge the government to immediately correct the delays seen in rescuing citizens trapped in tunnels and stranded elsewhere and accelerate the rescue operations,” Paudel said.
