KATHMANDU: The government has increased the salaries of civil servants by 10%.
Presenting the budget for the upcoming fiscal year in a joint session of the federal parliament on Friday, Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle said a 10% salary increment will be applied to the base pay scale starting mid-July, while the existing dearness allowance will also be continued.
Wagle also announced an additional 10 percent performance allowance for civil servants. “This will result in an overall net increase of around 21% in current earnings, pushing the minimum salary, including grades, to approximately Rs 40,000 to over Rs 100,000,” he added.
Provided employees secure the 10 percent performance allowance, the Chief Secretary will draw a monthly salary of Rs 98,425. Secretaries will receive Rs 92,219, joint secretaries Rs 73,712, undersecretaries Rs 63,971, and section officers Rs 57,862.
Among non-gazetted staff, Nayab Subbas will earn Rs 47,023, Kharidars Rs 44,810, and office assistants Rs 38,409 per month.
