KATHMANDU: Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Kathmandu, Scott Urbom, paid a courtesy call on Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav at the Office of the Vice President on Thursday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed various aspects of Nepal-US bilateral relations, according to the Office of the Vice President.
Vice President Yadav said Nepal and the United States have enjoyed close, cordial and cooperative relations since establishing diplomatic ties in 1947, built on mutual respect, understanding, development cooperation and strong people-to-people connections. He added that Nepal has always attached high importance to its relationship with the United States, guided by shared values of democracy, human rights and freedom.
Yadav also said the upcoming 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the United States next year would serve as an important milestone reflecting the long-standing friendship and partnership between the two countries.
During the meeting, Urbom described Nepal-US relations as long-standing, historic and multifaceted, and said the United States was keen to strengthen the partnership further.
Reaffirming Washington’s commitment to continued assistance to Nepal, he expressed satisfaction that US-supported projects in the country were progressing smoothly and effectively.
