KATHMANDU: Pakistan has provided 100 tons of relief supplies for people affected by the devastating Bhotekoshi floods of August 26.
A special chartered flight carrying 100 tons of emergency relief materials sent by the Government of Pakistan arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Sunday evening.
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the relief consignment was dispatched under the direct instructions of the Prime Minister of Pakistan and coordinated through the National Disaster Management Authority. Before departure, a formal send-off ceremony was held at Islamabad International Airport. Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry and senior diplomats were present on the occasion.
Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, Mohammad Aamir Khan, formally handed over the relief cargo to Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Mahabir Pun at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Joint Secretary (South Asia) at the Foreign Ministry, Gahendra Rajbhandari, was also present on the occasion.
The 100-ton shipment contains critical disaster supplies, including heavy-duty family tents, weather-resistant blankets, ground mats, medical supplies, essential medicines, and complete hygiene kits for displaced families living in temporary relief shelters.
