NC-UML coalition will remain intact until the next election: Oli

SURKHET: Prime Minister KP Sharma Olli has stated that the government is committed to safeguarding the existing federal democratic republican system, ensuring the effective implementation of the constitution by making necessary amendments as required.

Addressing the Karnali Provincial Assembly meeting in Surkhet on Friday, Oli said that the constitution, built on the sacrifices and struggles of the people, guarantees equal rights to all. “It is the responsibility of the government to protect the constitution, implement it effectively and make necessary amendments in the interest of the nation and its people,” he added.

Oli said that this coalition of Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and other parties would remain intact until the next elections. “Rest assured, this is a stable government with a clear vision. It will continue to move forward on this path,” he added.

Highlighting immense development potential of Karnali Province, Oli said that projects such as Upper Karnali, Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, Karnali Corridor Road, Bheri Babai and the petroleum study in Dailekh, Oli said availability of resources must be ensured before initiating new projects.

PM Oli called on all concerned to avoid blame games and underscored the need for collaboration among three levels of government to focus on the nation’s development and prosperity.

Recalling the seven-point agreement between the CPN-UML and the Nepali Congress before the formation of the current government, which included provisions for constitutional amendments, Oli clarified that amendments would be made based on national needs rather than pressure or haste. “The republican system we have established ensures national independence. We have permanently abolished the system where some are born superior and others as servants. In this system, the supremacy of citizens is paramount,” PM Oli said. “With changes in systems and circumstances, we must now move forward in development using modern methods. The current government is focused on making services accessible and convenient for the people through information and technology.”

Stressing the need to prioritize the people by increasing production and productivity, Oli said that the upcoming budget would address these in coordination with all seven province governments.
