KATHMANDU: A classroom building of Shree Bheri Tribeni Secondary School in Jajarkot has been built with Japanese assistance.
The building was destroyed by the earthquake in November 2023.
According to the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu, the building was handed over to the school amid a ceremony on May 27 in the presence of Shinto Yasuharu, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Japan.
The classroom building was constructed under the Government of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) program with financial support of $170,159, equivalent to around Rs 22.7 million.
Speaking at the ceremony, Yasuharu congratulated and thanked all those involved in the project and said the new building would provide students with a safe and conducive learning environment.
Established in 1985, Shree Bheri Tribeni Secondary School serves nearly 500 students from Jajarkot and neighbouring districts.

The newly built 12-room classroom block is expected to significantly improve the learning environment for students while also strengthening ties between the people of Nepal and Japan, the embassy said.
The reconstruction project was implemented by Volunteer Corps Nepal (VCN) through the GGP program. Founded in 2018, VCN has been involved in socio-educational development, disaster relief and volunteer activities across Nepal.
The GGP programme was established to support projects that directly benefit local communities at the grassroots level. Since 1991, more than 200 projects have been completed in Nepal under the program, according to the embassy.
