KATHMANDU: Minister of Foreign Affairs Shisir Khanal held a meeting with the United Arab Emirates’ Minister of Foreign Trade, Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Nepal and the UAE, focusing on a wide range of areas of mutual interest. These included enhanced cooperation in trade and investment, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, tourism, labour migration, infrastructure development, renewable energy, and increased investment from the UAE’s sovereign wealth funds in priority sectors, according to the foreign ministry.
On the occasion, Khanal highlighted the longstanding friendship and growing partnership between the two countries. He expressed Nepal’s aspiration to mark the upcoming golden jubilee of diplomatic relations as a significant milestone by attracting greater UAE investment in key development projects.
Khanal also urged the UAE government to remove the requirement for additional verification of police reports after they have been attested by Nepal’s Department of Consular Services.
