KATHMANDU: Minister of for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, is arriving in Kathmandu late Wednesday evening for a three-day official visit.
According to foreign ministry sources, Al Zeyoudi will arrive in Kathmandu at 11:30 pm on Wednesday. He will remain busy with meetings for a full day on Thursday and a half day on Friday. He will depart for Dubai at 7:55 pm on Friday.
Al Zeyoudi will hold meetings with Minister for Foreign Affairs Shishir Khanal, his counterpart and other high-ranking Nepali officials. He is also likely to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Balendra Shah. However, the meeting with the Prime Minister has not been confirmed yet, a foreign ministry official said.
Since his appointment, Al Zeyoudi has been at the forefront of the UAE’s economic outreach. He travels extensively across the globe, leading trade delegations, negotiating economic partnership agreements and engaging with foreign dignitaries and global business leaders.
The agenda of his Kathmandu visit, however, has not been made public.
UAE is one of Nepal’s major trading partners in the Gulf region. It hosts more than 700,000 Nepali workers. Nepal imported goods worth Rs 25.33 billion from the UAE in 2025/26, while its exports to the Gulf state remained at Rs 3.01 billion.
