Balendra Shah nominated as RSP’s Senior Leader

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Balendra Shah has been nominated as a Senior Leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

According to party General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya, a Central Committee meeting held on Wednesday unanimously endorsed President Rabi Lamichhane’s proposal to nominate Shah to the position of Senior Leader as per
Clause 22 (11) (J) oof the party statute.

The meeting also paid tribute to Om Prakash Mehta, who lost his life during recent incidents in Sunsari, and extended condolences to the bereaved families. It also wished for the speedy recovery of all those injured.

Acharya said the meeting carried out a comprehensive and candid review of the party’s first historic general convention. Acknowledging shortcomings and weaknesses at various levels during the democratic process, he said the party has decided to undertake an in-depth study of the entire process to learn from those experiences and further strengthen and mature the organization.

The meeting also formed a Party Secretariat in line with Clause 23 of the party statute. The RSP’s Secretariat includes the party chairpersons and elected office bearers: Vice Presidents Dr Swarnim Wagle and Sobita Gautam, General Secretary Acharya, and Joint General Secretaries Asim Shah, Hari Dhakal and Nisha Dangi.

Additionally, the meeting decided that party’s ministers must hold discussions at least once a month at the party office in the presence of Central Committee members on contemporary and multidimensional issues.

The central committee also issued a directive to all party members at every level to refrain from sharing or disseminating content related to suicide and self-immolation on social media.
