KATHMANDU: Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth paid tribute to Nepal’s martyrs and held talks with his Nepali counterpart General Ashok Raj Sigdel on Monday as part of his official visit to Nepal aimed at strengthening bilateral military ties.
General Seth laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Memorial at Tundikhel in Kathmandu. He also inspected a ceremonial Guard of Honour at the Nepali Army Headquarters in Tundikhel.
The Indian Army Chief also paid a courtesy call on General Sigdel. The two army chiefs discussed matters of mutual interest and ways to further strengthen defence cooperation and military-to-military relations between Nepal and India, according to a statement issued by the Nepali Army.
During the meeting, General Seth held discussions with senior military leadership on enhancing bilateral military cooperation.
As a gesture of the longstanding friendship between the two armies, he planted a sapling on the premises of the Nepali Army Headquarters. He also presented defence equipment to the Nepali Army.
Meanwhile, Nepal Army Wives Association organized a program in honor of Komal Seth, the spouse of Indian Army Chief Seth. On the occasion, Nita Chhetri Sigdel, the president of the association and General Sigdel’s spouse, honored Seth by offering her traditional Nepali pote beads.
