Rs 1 million relief announced for families of deceased police personnel

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police headquarters has decided to provide Rs 1 million in compensation to the families of each police personnel who lost their lives in the Bhotekoshi flood.

A meeting of the Policy Coordination Committee of Nepal Police, chaired by Inspector General Dan Bahadur Karki, made the decision on Wednesday.

The meeting also decided to intensify search and rescue efforts by mobilizing a specialized team in close contact and coordination with family members to locate police personnel who remain unaccounted for in the floods.

Furthermore, the meeting decided to waive special personal loans taken from the Nepal Police Welfare Fund by the deceased personnel.

The meeting also decided to provide skill-based training to one interested family member of each deceased personnel, assist in their employment and cover educational expenses for their children.

The meeting today also decided to provide Rs 50,000 as relief to each police personnel working in the flood-affected areas whose personal belongings were damaged.

Meanwhile, Nepal Police has decided to contribute Rs 400 million to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund as financial aid to address the damage caused by the Rasuwa floods.
