KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader and former Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka held a press conference on Tuesday at the premises of his fire-damaged residence, a day after Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal claimed that he had fled abroad.
Home Minister Aryal had claimed in an interview with Naya Patrika daily that Khadka had already left the country.
“Has the government issued a warrant against me? Has it imposed any travel restrictions?” Khadka asked reporters. “How can anyone say I have fled?”
Khadka also said he was at home on September 9 when his house came under attack. “I was at home, having lunch, when the door was banged repeatedly. My security guards then escorted me out,” he recalled.
He added that he stayed for a few days at an army barracks before traveling to the Tarai and later to India for medical treatment, as both he and his family had contracted dengue.
