Landslides partially obstruct Marsyangdi, Kaligandaki river flows: NDRRMA

KATHMANDU: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has urged people in downstream areas of the Marsyangdi and Kaligandaki rivers to exercise caution after landslides partially obstructed the flow of the two rivers.

“A landslide has caused some obstruction to the flow of the Marsyangdi River at Chame, the district headquarters of Manang,” the NDRRMA said in a social media post on Sunday evening. “Similarly, a landslide at Nisi in Thasang Rural Municipality-3 of Mustang has partially obstructed the flow of the Kaligandaki River.”

The NDRRMA has urged people living in downstream areas of both rivers to remain highly alert in view of the risk of sudden changes in river levels.

Kaligandaki River swept away more than 80 houses in downstream Parbat district on Sunday.
