KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leaders and cadres close to leader Shekhar Koirala are set to participate in the 15th General Convention being organized by the party’s Sher Bahadur Deuba-led faction.
While some leaders and cadres from the Koirala camp are preparing to take part in the Deuba faction’s ward-level convention, which begins Thursday, Koirala and some other leaders have decided to remain neutral.
Dinesh Chandra Thapaliya, Koirala’s personal secretary, said leaders and cadres close to Koirala will participate in the ward-level convention on Thursday. “Dr. Koirala and some other leaders will remain neutral,” Thapaliya told Himal Press. “Some of our leaders and cadres participated in the convention organized by the party’s establishment faction, while others are participating in the convention starting tomorrow. Everyone has been allowed to exercise their own judgment.”
According to Thapaliya, leaders including Badri Pandey, Sanjay Gautam, Sarita Prasai and Bal Bahadur KC will remain neutral.
While the establishment faction is holding conventions at various levels and preparing for the general convention, the Deuba faction has also begun preparations for a parallel convention.
