KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka, has said that the Electricity Regulatory Commission is responsible for resolving disputes related to dedicated and trunk lines.
Speaking at an event organized to mark the sixth anniversary of the Electricity Regulatory Commission, Minister Khadka emphasized the need to collect electricity tariffs based on Time-of-Day (TOD) meters. “There has been significant controversy over TOD meters, with issues like non-payment of dues and the inability of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) to recover outstanding amounts. The Commission is the authority responsible for resolving these matters,” he said. “The Commission is also tasked with verifying the accuracy of bills.”
Khadka added that implementation of the Energy Development Roadmap will mobilize up to Rs 6.4 trillion in investments in the energy sector over the next decade. “This investment will create jobs for everyone from engineers to laborers, and support infrastructure like bridges, schools and roads,” he added.
Also speaking on the occasion, Energy Secretary Suresh Acharya, said that the Commission’s role is even more important as the government embarks on a mission to generate 28,500 MW by 2035.
