KATHMANDU: Nepali mixed martial arts fighter Rabindra Dhant has entered the Bantamweight final of Road to UFC Season 5.
In the semifinal bout held in Shanghai on Friday, Dhant defeated New Zealand’s Kasib Murdoch by split decision. Two referees scored the bout 29-28 in Dhant’s favor, while the third referee awarded the same score to Murdoch. With the victory, Dhant has moved one step closer to earning an official multi-fight UFC contract.
Dhant defeated Kimbert Alintojon of the Philippines in May to secure a place in the semifinals.
With the win, Dhant has advanced to the Road to UFC Season 5 bantamweight final, where he will compete for a chance to secure a UFC contract.
Dhant will face Ryo Tajima of Japan in the Road to UFC Season 5 Bantamweight final. Tajima secured his spot in the finale by defeating India’s Chungreng Koren via unanimous decision earlier on Friday.
After the victory, Dhant requested everyone to support flood victims in Nepal. “Nepal is suffering a lot from the devastating floods. Please support whatever you can from your side,” he added.
