KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has summoned former foreign minister and Nepali Congress leader Arzu Rana Deuba for questioning.
The anti-graft body has asked her to appear to record a statement as part of its investigation into a complaint alleging corruption in the passport printing procurement process.
Rana has been asked to appear at the CIAA’s central office in Tangal, Kathmandu, within three days.
The CIAA said the investigation concerns alleged irregularities in the passport printing process.
“Since your statement needs to be recorded in connection with the investigation into a complaint alleging corruption in the work related to passport printing, you are requested to present yourself at Division No. 12, Room No. 12 of the CIAA, in Tangal, Kathmandu, within three days from the date this notice is received or pasted on your doorstep. Failure to appear will result in legal action in accordance with the law,” the notice reads.
Rana is currently in Singapore accompanying her husband, former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is undergoing medical treatment there.
