KATHMANDU: The government has decided to accept a grant of 1 million Swiss francs from the Government of Switzerland to support the fund for the tasks related to the investigation of the disappeared persons, truth seeking, and reconciliation.
A cabinet meeting held on Wednesday made the decision.
Similarly, the cabinet has designated several senior officials of the Inland Revenue Department, including deputy directors general, directors, and section officers, as excise officers within their respective jurisdictions. The decision also covers officials from the Large Taxpayer Office, Medium Taxpayer Office, Inland Revenue Offices, and 52 Treasury and Comptroller Offices.
The cabinet also endorsed the third amendment to the Financial Procedures and Fiscal Responsibility Regulations, 2026, and approved the National Standards for Organization and Management Survey, 2026.
Similarly, the cabinet has decided to table in the House of Representatives an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters, signed between the Government of Nepal and the Government of India on February 17, for information.
The cabinet has also formed a high-powered commission to collect, verify, and scrutinize the asset details of major political office-bearers and high-ranking officials who have held public office from 2005/06 to 2025/26. Former Supreme Court Justice Rajendra Kumar Bhandari will lead the five-member commission.
Likewise, the Cabinet has formed a committee under former High Court judge Prem Raj Karki to study and recommend measures regarding the security apparatus in connection with the implementation of the report of the high-level commission formed to investigate the incidents of September 8 and 9, 2025. Former Armed Police Force AIG Subodh Adhikari and former Nepal Police AIG Tek Prasad Rai are members of the committee.
