Cabinet decides to return 114 ropanis of land to police training academy

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to transfer the land of the National Police Training Academy back to the academy itself.

A cabinet meeting held on Thursday made the decision.

Government Spokesperson and Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sashmit Pokharel, said after the meeting that the academy will once again have the ownership of the land spread of 114 ropanis (14.33 acres).

A cabinet meeting held in 2018 had decided to transfer the entire land parcel to the National Police Training Academy under the Office of the President. The Oli-led government had decided to shift the academy to Panauti of Kavre.

Meanwhile, the government has also decided to form a negotiation team under the Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Finance to finalize agreements and related documents concerning concessional loan assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for integrated drinking water and sewerage management. “The team will finalize the agreement for concessional assistance worth $115 million from the ADB, along with other related documents.

The meeting also decided to form a study committee under the Information and Communication Technology Advisor of the Prime Minister to examine software and IT-related matters within government agencies.
