KATHMANDU: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is organizing a two-day orientation program for its newly-elected members of the House of Representatives from Tuesday.
According to party spokesperson Manish Jha, lawmakers wil be briefed on parliamentary practices, policy making, the functioning of Parliament, the responsibilities of public representatives, and the policies that the party should adopt during the orientation.
The residential orientation is being organized at the Royal Tulip Hotel, Lalitpur.
The RSP, which was formed few months ahead of the 2022 House of Representatives elections, emerged as the largest political force in the country in the 2026 elections, wining 182 seats. They part is two seats short of a two-thirds majority in the 275-member lower house.
It, however, has zero representation in the 59-member National Assembly as it chose not to contest the local body and provincial assembly elections in 2022.
National Assembly members are elected by an electoral college comprising provincial assembly members, and chiefs and deputy chiefs of local units across the country.
The term of one-third of these members expire every two years.
