Four paragliders rescued from Phewa Lake

KATHMANDU: Four individuals, who were involved in a paragliding accident in Pokhara, were safely rescued by the Armed Police Force (APF) personnel on Wednesday.

Two paragliding pilots, who took off from Toripani area near Sarangkot hill in Pokhara Metropolitan City-18 with a passenger each, lost control during landing and crashed into the middle of Phewa Lake. “Immediately after the incident, a security team from the APF Nepal No 24 Kalika Battalion, Kaski, stationed at the Phewa Rescue Tower, successfully rescued them at around 3 pm,” said DSP Shailendra Thapa, the joint spokesperson for the APF.

Aklesh Yadav (41) and Chandan Kumar Patel (35), both from Varanasi, India, as well as their pilots Milan Shah and Bishwas Adhikari, were successfully rescued after they plunged into the Phewa Lake during landing, APF Nepal said in a statement.
