UML to support NC in Okhaldhunga DCC Chairperson election

KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML jas decided to support the candidate of the Nepali Congress (NC) for the election for the chairperson of the District Coordination Committee (DCC) in Okhaldhunga district.

At a district-level meeting between the ruling coalition partners held in Okhaldhunga on Sunday, UML leaders agreed to support NC in the election for the DCC Chairperson.

The position became vacant with the demise of Dilliram Khanal one and a half years ago. UML has decided not to field a candidate for the position.

NC has picked Tek Raj Bhattarai as its candidate for the position.

Office-bearers in DCC are elected by district assemblies. NC enjoys a clear majority in the Okhaldhunga District Assembly.
