KATHMANDU: Floods and landslides in eastern Nepal have claimed 10 lives and six are injured, while 26 others are missing, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs said in the parliament on Tuesday.
“The impact of the monsoon which entered the country last week has been seen in eastern Nepal. Fifty-four houses have been washed away in the floods,” Shrestha said.
According to Shrestha, the government has intensified rescue and relief works in the floods and landslide-hit areas. “Rescue teams have been deputed to search the missing,” he added.
Shrestha also said efforts were underway to install Bailey bridges on key roads.
