KATHMANDU: The House of Representatives has called on the government to ensure the safety of Nepalis residing in India and Pakistan.
“In light of the current tensions between India and Pakistan, I urge the government to make necessary arrangements to ensure the safety and address potential challenges faced by all Nepalis living in these countries,” said Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire, issuing a directive to the government.
Speaker Ghimire issued the ruling after lawmakers voiced concerns over the wellbeing of Nepalis currently living in the two neighboring nations.
Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. In response, India carried out an aerial strike targeting “terrorist infrastructure” within Pakistani territory. Pakistan has since launched attacks in various border areas along the Indian frontier.
