Indian man arrested with fake banknotes worth Rs 18.2 million in Sunsari

ITAHARI: Police have arrested one individual with counterfeit currency worth Rs 18.2 million.

The police recovered counterfeit Rs 1,000 bills from an Indian car near the Sunsari River bridge in Inaruwa-4 on Sunday, according to Superintendent of Police Bipin Regmi, the chief of the District Police Office, Sunsari.

“A police team conducting routine vehicle checks recovered counterfeit currency in the car with registration BR 11 X 3429. The team impounded the car, and driver Mohamad Saiyad (22) of Birpur, India, was arrested. The other passenger in the car managed to flee,” Regmi added.

Regmi further stated that the police have launched a search operation to arrest the fleeing individual.

“We are investigating the case from multiple angles,” Regmi added.
