KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the country is facing its most serious crisis of national sovereignty since the Sugauli Treaty.
Addressing an interaction in Kathmandu on Sunday, he said unity and cooperation among leftist forces were essential to confront the current situation. “The country is truly in crisis now. Perhaps there has never been such a grave crisis of national sovereignty since the Sugauli Treaty,” he said.
Dahal acknowledged that the current crisis had emerged because Nepal had failed to give adequate priority to national sovereignty, the issues of oppressed communities and the struggle against foreign intervention.
He added that political parties should conduct a serious collective self-review rather than blame one another for past shortcomings.
“Only unity and cooperation among communist forces can protect and strengthen national sovereignty,” he argued.
