KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index gained 4.99 points on Wednesday, closing the session at 2,782.10.

Although the index dipped to an intraday low of 2,767.63 points, erasing initial gains, it moved into the green after the first hour and ultimately ended the session 0.17% higher.

Unit prices of 151 scrips advanced during the session, while 105 declined and 14 remained unchanged. Total turnover climbed to Rs 6.03 billion—the highest since April 28, when the bourse recorded total transactions of Rs 6.41 billion. A total of 15.24 units were traded on the bourse through 60,562 transactions.

Among individual stocks, Kalinchowk Hydropower Ltd recorded the highest gain of 14.98%. On the other hand, the 10.25% Sanima Debenture 2089 recorded the largest loss of 6.64%. In terms of turnover, however, Ankhukhola Jalavidyut Company Ltd topped the chart with Rs 712.23 million worth of shares traded. Ridi Power Company and National Hydropower Company Ltd were the next with total transactions of Rs 432.76 billion and Rs 321.53 billion, respectively.

Four trading groups posted losses on Wednesday, while the remaining nine ended the session in the green. Manufacturing & Process sub-index logged the biggest loss of 0.43%. On the other hand, the Trading sub-index posted the biggest gain of 0.73%.
