KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index fell 16.47 points to close at 2,613.33 points on Monday, the first trading day of the week.
Although the benchmark index initially gained and reached an intraday high of 2,636.94 points, it pared all of its gains and remained in negative territory for the rest of the session.
The prices of 224 listed companies declined during the session, while 49 advanced and six remained unchanged. Total turnover fell to Rs 5.38 billion, with 13.17 million units traded through 58,500 transactions.
Among individual stocks, 10% KBL Debenture 2090 posted the biggest gain, rising 12.17%. 7% Laxmi Sunrise Debenture 2092 and 6.25% Prime Bank Debenture 2093 followed with gains of 10% and 8.83%, respectively.
On the other hand, Hathway Investment Nepal Ltd recorded the biggest loss of 10.58%. Emerging Nepal Ltd. and Global IME Balanced Fund-1 followed with losses of 9.92% and 4.76%, respectively.
Himalayan Distillery Ltd topped the turnover chart with transactions worth Rs 358.21 million. Shivam Cements Ltd and Hathway Investment Nepal Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 297.88 million and Rs 199.88 million, respectively.
Except for the Trading sub-index, which posted a marginal gain of 0.23%, all other sub-indices ended lower on Monday. The Non-life Insurance sub-index recorded the biggest decline of 1.2%. Next were the Investment and the Hydropower sub-indices with losses of 1.16% and 1.03%, respectively.
