KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration has warned employees who refuse to report to offices assigned through transfers or deputations to step aside.
The ministry transferred 63 undersecretaries on Monday, while it transferred six joint secretaries on Tuesday.
The warning comes after employees posted to previously vacant municipalities and sub-metropolitan cities showed reluctance to leave Kathmandu.
Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Pratibha Rawal on Tuesday urged them to comply with their postings. “The government is ready to face any challenge to ensure smooth public service delivery. No one has the privilege to refuse to go where they are assigned. Those unwilling to report must step aside,” Minister Rawal said.
The ministry has already deployed officials to municipalities that had been without chief administrative officers on Monday, and to sub-metropolitan cities on Tuesday.
Joint Secretary Pradeep Pariyar has been transferred to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. He will serve as Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s personal secretary.
Pariyar had earlier served as Chief Administrative Officer of Kathmandu Metropolitan City when Shah was its Mayor.
The ministry has also transferred five joint secretaries from the reserve pool. Joint Secretary Tek Narayan Paudel has been transferred to Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City to work as its Chief Administrative Officer.
Likewise, the ministry has sent Joint Secretaries Chandra Prasad Bhusal to Ghorahi Sub-metropolitan City, Deepak Gywawali to Butwal Sub-metropolitan City, and Gyan Hari Ghimire to Janakpur Sub-metropolitan City.
Joint Secretary Navaraj Sharma has been transferred to the Ministry of Urban Development.
The ministry has said that preparations were underway to assign staff to rural municipalities that are currently without personnel within the next couple of days.
