KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office, Saptari, has lifted the curfew imposed in Rajbiraj Municipality and Bodebarsain Municipality.
However, it has issued a prohibitory order barring gatherings of more than five people, as well as public meetings, rallies, sit-ins and demonstrations in both municipalities until further notice as per Section 6 3(A) of the Local Administration Act, 1971.
According to a notice issued by Chief District Officer Shyam Krishna Thapa, the decision to enforce the prohibitory order was taken at a meeting of the District Security Committee held on Sunday.
The restricted area in Rajbiraj Municipality extends from the Khando River in the east to the Jamuni Thalahi section of the Hulaki Highway in the west, from Basbitti Chowk on Rupani Road in the north to the Koshi Western Main Canal in the south.
Similarly, in Bodebarsain Municipality, the prohibitory order covers the area from Khadka Bridge on the Hulaki Highway in the east to Pritampur Chowk in the west, and from Negada Chowk in the north to Manraja Chowk in the south.
Unrest in several Tarai districts of Koshi and Madhesh Provinces, which started following the death of one youth in police firing in Sunsari on July 19, is gradually subsiding.
