KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has said that it has completed printing ballot papers for 124 constituencies in 58 districts for the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.

Assistant EC Spokesperson Prakash Neupane told mediapersons on Thursday that a total of 15,778,000 ballot papers have been printed so far.

The EC has already printed ballot papers for 58 districts: including Dolpa, Mugu, Jumla, Kalikot, Humla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, Rukum West, Salyan, Surkhet, Bajura, Achham, Bajhang, Doti, Dadeldhura, Darchula, Baitadi, Kailali, Kanchanpur, Panchthar, Ilam, Terhathum, Bhojpur, Okhaldhunga, Sunsari, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Khotang, Dhankuta, Baglung, Gulmi, Jhapa, Gorkha, Myagdi, Parbat, Nawalparasi, Morang, Udayapur, Mustang, Lamjung, Tanahun, Syangja, Bardiya, Rukum East, Dang, Banke, Nawalpur, Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Pyuthan, Rupandehi, Rolpa, Manang, Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Rasuwa and Sindhupalchok.

Neupane said ballot papers for these districts have also been packed.

The EC started printing ballot papers for both the Proportional Representation (PR) system and the First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) system at the Janak Education Materials Centre Limited in Sanothimi on January 6. In the first phase, 1,098,200 sample ballot papers were printed and dispatched to various districts.

Printing of ballot papers under the Proportional Representation (PR) system began on January 10 and was completed on January 27.

Meanwhile, ballot papers have already been dispatched to 12 constituencies in 10 districts of Karnali Province.

According to Neupane, ballot papers have already been transported to the offices of returning officers in Salyan, Rukum West, Dolpa, Mugu, Humla, Kalikot, Jumla, Jajarkot, Dailekh, and Surkhet.
