KATHMANDU: The sixth edition of the Nepal–US Land Forces Talks, an experience-sharing and dialogue program between the Nepal Army and the US Army, began in Kathmandu on Wednesday. The talks have been held since 2018.
According to the Directorate of Public Relations and Information of the Nepal Army, the three-day event taking place at the Army Headquarters will focus on exchanging experiences and cooperation related to global peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance and disaster response.
Lieutenant General Scott A. Winter, Deputy Commanding General – Strategy and Plans for the US Army Pacific (USARPAC), is leading the US Army delegation in the talks. He is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on the Chief of Army Staff, Ashok Raj Sigdel.
The Nepal Army has said that it has been participating in bilateral and multilateral military exercises and competitions with the armies of India, China, the United Kingdom, Pakistan and other countries to enhance professional capacity. “We believe that such experience-sharing programs help further strengthen the long-standing military relations between Nepal and its friendly nations,” the directorate said in a statement.
