KATHMANDU: Newly appointed Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Manoj Silwal, has expressed commitment to implement the government’s decision to recover outstanding dues from dedicated trunk line users.
Taking charge at the NEA on Tuesday, Silwal said since the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation had already decided to move forward on the dues, NEA would now enforce that decision. He added that the previous decisions on the matter would first be reviewed and reassessed.
Silwal also outlined plans to strengthen NEA through internal reforms and long-term strategies, including a focus on uninterrupted 24-hour power supply.
Addressing staff during a welcome program, he said he was determined to overcome the challenges ahead and move forward. “Since the current energy minister himself has a long experience leading NEA, there would not be any problem in coordination. The present moment should be used as an opportunity,” he added.
