Janamat leaders give Chairperson Raut 24 hours to step down from leadership Janamat Party Chairperson Dr CK Raut.

KATHMANDU: Leaders of the Janamat Party, including senior office bearers, have given party chairperson Dr CK Raut a 24-hour ultimatum to step down from leadership.

Senior Vice Chairperson Abdul Khan, Central Spokesperson Sharad Singh Yadav, Janamat Youth Association Coordinator Sanjay Kumar Yadav and three other leaders on Wednesday wrote a letter to Raut, demanding a change of leadership in the party.

They argued that the party can be made stronger, more democratic, accountable and responsive to the people after Raut’s resignation. They also demanded the resignation of Jayakant Raut, head of the party’s Organization Department and Dr Raut’s elder brother.

Stating that the Gen-Z movement has brought a historic turning point in Nepali politics, raising serious questions over the ruling coalition, the prime minister, coalition leaders and the main opposition, the six leaders said the party too must undertake self-assessment. “The need for purification in the country’s political, social and administrative system is rising sharply, and it has become inevitable for the Janamat Party to adopt a path of change,” the letter read.

They also criticized the recent performance of the top leadership of the party, citing weak management, lack of transparency in decision-making and activities contrary to public sentiment.
