KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government will not exert any pressure to exonerate criminals or implicate innocent people in violation of the constitution and laws.
Inaugurating the newly constructed building of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, on Monday, he instructed the police force to remain vigilant in predicting and investigating criminal incidents, preventing them from occurring, and taking strict action if they do happen. He urged the police personnel to be resolute and confident in providing peace and security to the people.
“This government won’t tell anyone not to arrest criminals, won’t commit the crime of implicating innocent people using state mechanisms and won’t order for the release the guilty,” Oli said. “This government is not just another government. It has taken a resolve to do something. The current government has been formed with the determination to do something for the country and the people.”
The building is considered the biggest structural achievement in Nepal Police so far. The state-of-the-art building, spread over 15 ropanis of land, was constructed at a cost of Rs 1.26 billion.
Also speaking on the occasion, Minister for Home Affairs Ramesh Lekhak said that the government, formed with the participation of major parties for stability and peace in the country, has boosted the morale to work.
High-ranking government officials, the Inspector General and senior officers of Nepal Police, among others, were present on the occasion.
