KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal held a productive bilateral meeting with his Indian counterpart, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in New Delhi on Thursday.
During the delegation-level meeting, the two leaders discussed a range of matters concerning both countries, including energy, energy trade, commerce, and air routes. Following the meeting, the two countries signed various agreements and Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs).
The two countries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to facilitate the construction of the Siliguri-Jhapa Petroleum Pipeline. This agreement aims to ensure a smooth supply of petroleum products to Nepal.
Additionally, Dahal and Modi announced the commencement of the construction of the Sunauli Bhairahawa Integrated Checkpost, a petroleum pipeline from Amlekhganj to Lothar in Chitwan, and the Gorakhpur-New Butwal 400 KV double circuit transmission line.
During the event, the two prime ministers remotely inaugurated Nepalgunj-Rupadia Integrated Checkpost and the Bathana-Biratnagar Cargo Train.
Furthermore, Nepal and India signed a long-term power agreement, underscoring their commitment to cooperation in the energy sector. Moreover, a project development agreement for the construction of the Pukhot-Karnali Hydropower Project and an agreement for the construction of the Lower Arun Hydropower Project with Indian investment were also signed on the occasion.
In addition to these agreements, Dahal and Modi also signed agreements on digital payment, aimed at fostering secure and convenient financial transactions between the two countries.
