KATHMANDU: Ram Chandra Poudel has been sworn in as Nepal’s third President.
Acting Chief Justice Hari Krishna Karki administered the oath of office and secrecy to Poudel amid a ceremony organized at the Office of the President on Monday.
Outgoing President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timislina, former Prime Ministers, Ministers, Province Chiefs, Chief Ministers, chiefs of constitutional bodies, diplomats and high-ranked government officials were present in the ceremony.
Poudel was elected President on Thursday by defeating Subash Chandra Nembang of CPN-UML.
