KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has taken action against DSP Rabin Bista, the chief of Metropolitan Police Circle in Balaju, for failing to maintain law and order in the areas under the circle’s jurisdiction.
According to SSP Himalaya Kumar Shrestha, the spokesperson for Kathmandu Valley Police Office, DSP Manojit Kunwar has been sent to replace Bista at the Metropolitan Police Circle in Balaju.
Transport entrepreneurs took to the streets in the Balaju area on Monday afternoon, setting two police vans on fire. Amateur videos show vigilantes breaking open doors of shops at Lhotse Mall and looting items such as mobile phones.
According to Kathmandu Valley Police Office, DSP Bista failed to read the situation and make needful arrangements to take the situation under control.
