KATHMANDU: A 5.9 magnitude earthquake has jolted Bajura district in far-western Nepal.
According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake with epicenter near Netibagar in Bajura was measured at around 2:43 pm on Tuesday.
The tremors were felt in Surkhet, Bardiya, Banke and Dang districts, among others.
Photographs shared in social media show houses floored by the earthquake. There has been no report of casualty yet, according to Assistant CDO of Bajura, Lokendra Bahadur Bista. “Many houses, including the building of Agriculture Knowledge Center, have sustained damages,” he added.
Meanwhile, Nepali Congress lawmaker Badri Pandey, who represents Bajura, has drawn the attention of the government stating that details of damages caused by the earthquake were starting to come.
He was speaking in the meeting of the House of Representatives.
