KATHMANDU: The 6th edition of the Everest International Model United Nations (EIMUN) kicked off in Kathmandu on Monday.

US Ambassador to Nepal Dean R Thompson, in the presence of Minister of Youth and Sports Dig Bahadur Limbu and UN Women Nepal Country Representative Patricia Fernández-Pacheco, inaugurated the five-day event that brings together more than 200 youth participants from Bangladesh, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Nepal, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, and Sri Lanka.

The conference aims to provide a platform for young individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds to address critical global issues such as affordable and clean energy, gender equality, structural unemployment, and cyber threats, according to a press statement issued by the US Embassy in Kathmandu. This event is recognized as one of the most inclusive Model UN conferences in the South and Central Asian region, it added.

Participants of the event will have the opportunity to engage with UN representatives, diplomats, and professionals working in organizations dedicated to mitigating the impact of global problems. Through networking and interaction, the youth delegates hope to develop valuable skills that will enable them to shape the future.

The Everest International Model United Nations offers a unique and enriching experience for the participants, fostering dialogue, collaboration, and understanding among young leaders from different nations.
