KATHMANDU: Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy in Kathmandu, Megan Bouldin, paid a courtesy call on Chief of Army Staff Ashok Raj Sigdel on Thursday.
According to the US Embassy in Kathmandu, the meeting focused on ongoing US support for Nepal’s recovery from the devastating August 26 floods.
“Bouldin expressed her deepest condolences for those who lost their lives in the disaster and her sympathies to the families of missing Nepali Army personnel,” the embassy said in a social media post.
She also highlighted how the US is providing more than $150 million in American-made helicopters, drones, and riverboats to strengthen Nepal’s disaster-response capabilities.
According to the embassy, deliveries will begin next year and will complement the $38 million worth of M28 Skytruck aircraft donated by the United States last fall.
“With American technology, equipment and expertise, the US is helping Nepal strengthen its search and rescue, medical evacuation and emergency response capabilities to save lives and support communities in times of crisis,” the embassy said.
