KATHMANDU: American country singer-songwriter Jessica Lynn has arrived in Kathmandu for a weeklong professional exchange with Nepali musicians and music industry professionals.
According to the U.S. Embassy in Kathmandu, Lynn will engage with Nepali singers, musicians, songwriters, producers, artist managers and other music professionals on August 24-29 as part of the Arts & Music Envoy Program.
The program is supported by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
During her visit, Lynn will lead interactive sessions on songwriting, music business, digital platforms, copyright and other aspects of the music industry. The program will also provide Nepali artists and industry professionals opportunities to learn about international markets, audiences and potential collaborations with American music professionals.
U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Scott Urbom said the program reflects the broader U.S.-Nepal partnership in the arts and provides an opportunity for artists from both countries to learn from one another. “Music is a powerful way to connect our peoples,” he said, adding that the exchange could contribute to creativity and economic growth in Nepal’s growing music industry.
The program will conclude with a public concert at The Plaza, Pulchowk, on Saturday. The concert will feature performances by Lynn as well as Nepali artists Rato Rani and Ujan Shakya.
