22 US Peace Corp volunteers begin two-year service in Nepal US Embassy officials with the Peace Corp volunteers.

KATHMANDU: The 209th group of US Peace Corp volunteers has begun their two-year service in Nepal.

US Ambassador to Nepal Dean R Thompson swore in 22 Peace Corp volunteers amid a ceremony organized at the US Embassy in Kathmandu on Thursday.

“The 209th group of American volunteers joins the nearly 4,000 volunteers who have previously served in Nepal since 1962,” the embassy said in a press note.

According to the embassy, the volunteers underwent 11 weeks of intensive language and cross-cultural and technical training.

These volunteers will serve in Gandaki and Bagmati provinces to teach English in government schools and to work on food security and health projects in coordination with the Government of Nepal.
